Shake it off

When you’re oh-so wrapped up in a certain situation, a certain storyline, it’s easy to think that you won’t be able to move forward if it doesn’t play out the way you want it to.  And yet, if you just accept that it didn’t and make the wise decision to move forward and stop trying to re-write it, you will find just how easy it is to keep on keeping on.

Some may call this heartless.  Others might label it as cold.  Hey, some may even say – if it’s easy to move forward without looking back – it might be a sign you never really cared as much as you thought you did in the first place, but so be it.  Because there comes a point in time where one must stop worrying about others; where one must put their pretty little selves (and well being) first.

Let today be that day.  Shake it off.  Let go of whatever (or whoever) seems to be holding you back or holding your feelings hostage (whether they mean to or not.)  You are a woman, not a puppet.  Let go of your negative thoughts of this person, letting it fall and pass you by like a waterfall.  When you stop worrying or wondering, you lift a weight off your toned-shoulders.  Forgive them (not directly) but in your mind for their inability to reach your expectations and move on with your life.

How? By doing that which makes you happy.  A yoga class here, a glass of bubbly with friends there.  Don’t hide or hermit out, losing yourself in your misery.  Instead say ‘What misery?’ and be that cute, infectiously little happy you that drew whatshisname to you in the first place.  To hide in your sleep is to give someone else and your thoughts power over.  Take that power, hold it by the horns and choose the happy life.
